Industrial Example - In 2003, at a large manufacturing plant on the East Coast, two Worthington 150 hp, one Worthington 200 and one Joy 200 hp compressors (144 gallons combined fluid total) were converted to AMSOIL PCI compressor fluid. Conventional fluid previously was changed every 1,000 hours in each compressor (24 changes, totaling 864 gallons annually, equaling 16 55-gallon drums).
After changing to AMSOIL PCI synthetic compressor fluid in the first compressor, an 8 amp decrease in electrical energy use and an 11 degree drop in operating temperature were achieved. (Similar savings were noted in the other compressors, following change to AMSOIL.) The PCI compressor fluid is capable of up to 8,000 hours use; now only one fluid change per compressor is made annually. Fluid savings - including equivalent disposal consideration - amount to 720 gallons; annual labor was reduced by 40 hours; only three 55-gallon drums are now required; and both maintenance and operating budget costs were reduced.
